HWEG initiates regional partnership projects each year. These projects are designed, developed, funded, implemented and evaluated by HWEG members as a cooperative venture. The annual Waste as Art Community Competition and Exhibition is HWEGs flagship project, achieving continued success since it’s inception in 2000. This innovative project encourages the community to consider waste as an art medium, in the creation of sculptural artwork. With substantial prizes on offer, this competition attracts over 200 entrants per year and over 12 000 visitors to the resultant exhibition. The Sustainability Snapshots program was trialled by HWEG in 2006. This project endeavours to deliver sustainable living tips and facts via performance and display. The 2007 project focussed on ‘Snapshots @ Events’ with the project delivered at a number of large-scale events across the Hunter Region. The 7 Wicked Wastes are wastes that have the potential to harm the environment if disposed of in your household garbage or recycling bins. |
